EDUCATION
Education is a cornerstone for success in school, work and life. Setting kids on the path to success begins with early intervention, and then, through high-quality education, students can graduate high school prepared for college & career. United Way focuses on long-term solutions and addressing opportunity gaps throughout the cradle-to-career pipeline in order to keep kids on track to graduating prepared for success. Education is divided into two focus areas: Childhood Success and Youth Success. Childhood Success focuses on early intervention and topics such as early grade reading and school readiness, while Youth Success deals with middle grades success, high school graduation, and post secondary success.

PROGRAM INFORMATION
EL CAMPITO
DESCRIPTION: El Campito provides access to high quality early learning opportunities, parent engagement, and strong transitions to kindergarten while serving a population where 70% of children are living at or below the line of poverty.
CENTER FOR THE HOMELESS
DESCRIPTION: Focuses on children’s holistic developmental growth, with strong emphasis on areas of concern of delay. Licensed by the State of Indiana, The Early Childhood Intervention Center is committed to 1) providing a high quality educational environment for children ages 6 weeks-6 years that supports each child’s growth and development, 2) partnering with parents to equip, encourage and empower as their child’s first and most important teacher, and therefore facilitating two-generation impact.
RESCUE INC (HOPE MINISTRIES)
DESCRIPTION: Hope4Kids engages parents and children living at Hope Ministries in services seeking to maximize each child’s chance of successful development throughout his or her lifetime. Hope4Kids is a holistic program focusing not only on the child, but also the family and community environment affecting the child’s development.
LA CASA
DESCRIPTION: Our Yo Puedo Leer (I can read) program offers a bilingual curriculum (English-Spanish) to children in the Latino community living in St. Joseph County. This program assists students through their language- learning journey by strengthening their linguistic development, gross motor, fine and number recognition skills. The Yo Puedo Leer program has proven to be successful for decades in building a strong base of bilingual reading and writing skills, which facilitates their learning skills
