You are likely getting information and updates from every direction as the COVID-19 crisis continues to evolve and impact us all in new ways, daily.

.
Undoubtedly, we are all concerned for those in the community who will be impacted by the virus, be it through direct contact, loss of work/wages, increased food costs, and so on. We at United Way find ourselves uniquely positioned to be a convener of resources in a time of crisis. For this reason, United Way of St. Joseph County has launched a COVID-19 Response Fund to make resources available throughout our community. The Fund will allow not-for-profit partners to quickly apply for additional funding to respond to the short-term, immediate needs of individuals and families that will be impacted by COVID-19, as well as the long term impacts that have yet to be seen.

.
After a generous $200,000 contribution from The Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, the fund has now raised an initial sum of $400,000. We are working diligently to partner with corporate, foundation, and individual donors to continue growing this resource as quickly as possible.

.
Applications for funding have already begun arriving, and we are working quickly to distribute allocations on a rolling basis—as we know needs will be changing rapidly.

.
We will all have a role to play in curbing the immediate and long-term impact of COVID-19. If you would like to learn more or make a contribution to the Response Fund, please visit https://uwsjc.org/covid-19-response/

.
Individuals seeking assistance with immediate needs should call 2-1-1, Indiana’s 24/7 resource referral line, to be connected with the resources that are available to them. Please share this information with your friends and neighbors as necessary.

.
LIVE UNITED, has never meant more than it does today. We are a resilient community who is proving to be responsive and compassionate in a time of uncertainty. Thank you for your consideration and support. Please feel free to reach out to me with your questions at ljensen@uwsjc.org.
